Wicked by Gregory Maguire

Wicked3

I’m really glad that I decided to read this book. I was concerned it would spoil my memories of the musical but it didn’t at all. In the end, they are very different stories and I enjoyed both for different reasons. I liked following Elphaba throughout her lifetime, seeing her birth and death and everything in between. I liked the twists and turns, the shocks and sometimes horrors, the over-the-top descriptions (for the most part). I especially loved the twist at the end. I’m not sure if I’ll read the next book without Elphaba. For all her faults, she really was a force to be reckoned with!

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
